Autism Spectrum Disorder Moodle
In June 2008 TAFE NSW formed a partnership with Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) which has resulted in enhanced information and skill sharing.
One component of the partnership was the development of an on-line training program for TAFE NSW staff on Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD as it is more commonly known, is a lifelong neuro-developmental disorder that affects approximately 1 in 160 people in Australia. ASD is often misunderstood and it is hoped that this on-line training program will provide information for a range of staff in a user-friendly way.
The program includes a number of downloadable resources such as teaching tips and also provides:
a general overview for those participants who are interested in gaining a broad understanding of ASD
more indepth information for mainstream teaching and support staff
an even more detailed section for staff such as Teacher/Consultants for students with a disability and Counselling staff.
